There are two good things about this film. Seth Green and the practical effects, both of which are very good (except for some shoddy model work) . The film follows the highly plausible tale of a group of city kids who end up at an abandoned / closed summer camp for an outreach project. They fall foul of steroidal super ticks and the two local drug farmers.
If that sounds oddly familiar and strangely farcical that is because it is, Ticks is a terrible film with so little in the way of sense and style that I am amazed that it has such a loyal following on IMDb (well not that amazed IMDb seems to attract these people). In essence the film fails as a horror and is a half arsed comedy, it shows all the hallmarks of a film with no clear aim other than to make money and as such is a total failure.
Don't bother with this one unless it is on late night TV and you are stoned, pissed or really, really bored.
