Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Its happened again. A well regarded classic film fails to grab me and I start to wonder, is it me or the film?

In this case I think both. Fast Times takes the same insecurities and worries about life and sex as comedies like Porkies and American Pie but dresses it up in a veneer of seriousness that hampers its impact. Fielded from the perspective of a teen girl and having no central thrust or main character to speak of the film fails to trigger any any response on my behalf.

The film felt really unfocussed and in particular the  ending scenes where the players futures is detailed in the style of “Animal House” seems totally out of place.

Not a film I will rush to see again,
