Just a week after the third (and final complete for Hartnell) series ended this colour extravaganza hit cinemas. As the series was about to hit a massive change it seems odd that what is essentially an old story gets a release in the cinema.
The movie is great, this time the Daleks talk in sync with their lights and the condensing of the story from its original 2 1/2 hours to a much tighter 1 hr 30 minutes is a great advantage and it does not lag or feel as padded as its TV origin. The cast are great and the replacement character of Louise (replacing Barbara) works well.
The film isn't without flaws swinging at times between comedy and extreme drama. Having a U rating it is still well versed in death with several Robomen and freedom fighters losing their lives.
Quite simply a fun film to pass the time. Thank god they did not remake the third Dalek story, The Chase, that would have been awful.
Coming up: The Smugglers (Series 4 Story 1)
