One mans quest... Doctor Who. All of it.
So here we enter the most Epic story ever (and NO I don't count Trial of a Timelord which was clearly 4 linked stories). How will it fare, considering only 3 episodes from the twelve actually exist I suspect badly.
Of course I must also mention the truly bizarre Feast of Stephen, there I have done it. Lets move swiftly on (its very weird and out of place)
Actually the story doesn't fare that badly at all, I think if it had been entirely incomplete it would have been very difficult to absorb rather like Marco Polo. As there are existing episodes however it is easier to see and imagine what the direction and tone were intended to be. The difference between this and the stills is marked with The Doctor and Sara in particular seeming in the middle of a bizarre expression on each still. One thing that still conflicts me is the design of the aliens. This is either inspired or truly bonkers. I really cannot decide.
That said the story does lag, as can be expected with 12 episode but it is perfectly palatable. What does strike as odd is the sheer grimness of the story. After 3 months of this the 60s audience must have been close to suicide. With the cruel death of Katrina and the even more gruesome one of Sara, not to mention her Fratricidal tendencies this really is a macabre tale. Thank goodness the next story is the cheerful... oh "The Massacre" hmmm
SO WHAT IS MY MOTIVATION AGAIN?
