On the small screen we have discovered that The Doctor isn’t human, there are others of his race and his TARDIS isn't unique. We eagerly await the DOCTOR WHO MOVIE. Only to find it is apparently about some OTHER fellow called Dr. Who his grandchildren Susie Who and Barbara Who and their wacky adventures with the bumbling boyfriend Ian Chesterton.
From the intro you would think I disliked Dr. Who and the Daleks, well I don’t. It is a glorious bright romp and, if you can get over the fact that it isn't PROPER Doctor Who, great fun. I do wonder just how Terry Nation can turn a three hour script into a 1hr and 30 minutes film and still make it ponderous in places, how nobody realised just WHY Dalek lights flash or why they thought it would be a good idea to show the end of the film in the trailer. Those niggles aside the movie Daleks do look great and a hell of a lot better then the Dalek Paradigm that Moffat has so sensibly “rested”.
As an experiment I made Jessica watch this one so here we have a view of a relatively fresh watcher…
This movie was middling. There were different actors (the Doctor has a moustache!)and Barbara was the doctor's granddaughter as well as Susan (the actor was 8!). The story was based around the the Daleks to the edge of destruction. the sets where different. At one point you could see (almost) up the Daleks skirt. The movie was in colour. Brilliant to watch.
