Veebeam is an innovative solution to the hassle of rigging up your PC or laptop to run through the TV. With so many PCs now operating as media centres it seems silly to watch your digital content on a small screen. Sure you can wire HDMI across the room or use a WiFi media server but it really is a pain and can bog up your network.
Veebeam looks to solve this problem. It is essentially a video streamer working via USB in a simple plug and play manner.
- Base unit permanently wires to TV.
- USB dongle plus into source PC
The HD unit is capable of 1080p playback and comes complete with optical out and HDMI port and has the ability to stream in the background so that a PC can still be used even if you are watching TV through it. Essentially working as a wireless USB system it is a neat concept.
It reportedly requires a higher end PC to run and, although the product is aimed at laptops it should work just as well on Desktop PCs. The maker Veebeam has helpfully provided a help tool on its website which can be used to benchmark your hardware. You can download this HERE.
Its a neat solution to an annoying problem and as it is using USB rather then WiFi it isnt going to bog down your network for anyone else in the family.
You can get hold of the Veebeam HD from Amazon.co.uk for £139.99
