Not to be confused with the Thora Birch / Keira Knightly psycho thriller this is a film in the grand old style of the 80s. As an 80s child therefore I found it very comfortable to watch with the style effortlessly espousing Gremlins (no surprise same director), Critters and The Gate. This doesn't mean the film is good….

That previous line was a bit of a misleading one, the film certainly isn't bad, don’t get me wrong. Its just… well… tired. Its a pedestrian little flick that really goes nowhere special and explores no new boundaries. We have killer clown dolls (like in Poltergeist), a malevolent Father Figure (as seen in Doctor Who: Fear Her, The Shining) and a scary child (as done in The Grudge, The Ring) emitting from a spooky hole (The Keep, The Gate, Buffy The Vampire Slayer Series 7) that acts on your fears (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Nightmares).
Its technically well done but really sparks nothing in the mind to remember it by. A shame really as I am sure it deserved more respect than I can give it.
Mediocre, have a punt if you are bored.
