The Daleks Episode 3
The early doctor who stories are teases. You always feel that you are getting somewhere and its takes its sweet time taking you. This is one of the things I like about it and I find The Daleks to be a masterfully paced piece. Its when you look back at the episode that you realise that very little has really happened.
Hartnell doesnt really earn his wage here does he. He really just sits and sweats a bit. Bless the poor old begger. The city design is coming to a fore here with the Daleks fitting the doors perfectly. Oddly Jessica picks up on just how small they are just as I do, with Barbara towering above one. Oddly she does not comment on the fact that they cannot leave the city, something at odds with all of her previous knowledge. She is also keen to see the Dalek creature…
It was quite interesting really. I loved how the plot was tightly woven together, how the characters seemed so alive, how the doctor was dying (YIPPEE!!!). The episode on the whole was great but could have a little more tweaking to reach it's full potential.
BARBARA I THINK I SAW A HAIRBRUSH OUT THERE. COME TO THINK OF IT HOW IS YOURS SO NEAT. ARE YOU HIDING COIFURING SUPPLIES WOMAN?
