Well what can I say. It all started so well….

Gothika has an outstanding cast and the first part of the movie is intriguing and stylish, Halle Berrys problem as a suspected murderer is brilliantly played upon and all of the elements point towards this being an excellent film.

Then we reach the massively disappointing climax and the sudden realisation that the writer didn't really know where to take this story. Of course once you see this you start looking for other plot holes such as, how does a screaming woman not get heard by people in the next room? Why exactly is a brutal Axe Murderer let free? How many prisons have sets of keys that open all he doors without some kind of human control over access? Why was Halle with the boss of the prison anyway, not to be rude but she is pretty far out of his league? What was Downeys involvement at the end? vlcsnap-2010-09-27-10h32m37s222

Its difficult to critique some of the plot holes without revealing major spoilers. Suffice to say that this film is hugely let down by some awful storytelling.

With more care this could have been a great film, as it is I was really rather disappointed and feel a little cheated.

Take a look…don't think too hard.
