Children of the Corn 666: Isaacs Return

Some films you expect to be bad, they look bad, they smell bad and by god they leave a bad taste. I have seen so many bad films in the course of this blog that I have considered renaming it to “Extreme-ly bad film watching” but that would mean a change of header!vlcsnap-2010-08-05-20h44m56s227

Children of the Corn 666 (which isnt the six hundred and sixty sixth one…but feels it) doesn't look bad. It is polished and colour graded in that annoying way that Hollywood thinks we don’t notice. It doesn’t look like a straight to video outing and has a reasonably big name in Nancy (Robocop) Allen. It also entices the original Isaac back to reprise the part from the original film. In tone it ties into the original far more closely then the other sequels and it really should have been better.

So what is wrong with it? The story stinks worse then a 3 day dead skunk. Its narrative thread is fractured, teens interchangeable faceless peons and emotional thrust totally non-existent. It constantly refers to a “Prophecy” without any real exposition on where and what this came from and the eventual twist make no sense AT ALL despite being glaringly obvious.vlcsnap-2010-08-05-21h02m12s90

Children of the Corn 666 is a dog of a movie, it is wearing such nice clothes but under the shiny exterior its another generic cult thriller, and not very thrilling as nothing much actually happens.

Avoid, avoid, avoid.
